Spring in Maine (with lilacs)

It isn’t a very well kept secret that lilacs are Jess’ favorite. She’s even been heard to say “If I had to choose between lilacs and chocolate, I would choose lilacs.”

Lilacs are fleeting and delicate, they don’t hold up well when not in water. The old saying “gather ye rosebuds while ye may” should really probably be updated to reflect the urgency of today’s world with “gather ye lilacs while ye may.”
Having said that, we gathered these lilacs, violets, bleeding hearts and lily of the valley from the garden and designed a very springy posy for you to enjoy. I bet you can imagine the fragrance!

If you want lilacs to be a part of your wedding, plan on setting your date for early May. If you miss their bloom locally, you’ll have to wait a year.
